CURRENT AUCTION SCHEDULE
First European Shipping is pleased to introduce a new service for
intrepid dealers and private collectors who love to travel - guided
antique shopping excursions outside of Hungary's borders! For the
last several years we have offered antique shopping tours covering
galleries, auction houses and flea markets in Budapest and the Hungarian
countryside. Now we have expanded the service to include the Transylvania
region of Romania and parts of southern Slovakia.
Both of these areas are historically fascinating and, because they
are considerably less accessible and less well-known than Budapest
and surrounds, rich in a variety of periods of furniture including
Baroque, Empire and Biedermeier. They're also a great source for
carpets, peasant pine furniture and a wide variety of other items
of ethnographic interest.
We provide you a complete package that includes translation, bargaining,
all recordkeeping, hotel and restaurant arrangements, and transportation
of your purchases back to our warehouse in Budapest.
In
addition to our tours outside Hungary we are also glad to take our
clients on buying tours around Hungary itself as well as to Budapest's
many auctions.
The following is the auction and Pecs market schedule for 2006 to
help you plan your summer and autumn buying trips or auction bidding.
We gladly make any arrangements for your trip including excursions
to countryside shops, markets and auctions. If you are not making
a trip here, we can send you auction catalogues and do pre-auction
viewings and proxy bidding. As always, we are happy to organize
buying tours around Budapest as well as the Hungarian countryside
and parts of Slovakia and Transylvania.
Budapest's
Ecseri market is now open seven days a week, though the Saturday
market is by far the best. The Pecs antiques market takes place
every month, on the Thursday preceding the first Sunday of the
month. It's important to get there early on Thursday. Pecs has
several good antique shops as well and is 21/2
hours from Budapest.

The spring auction season is over by now, and dates for
the autumn season have not been announced yet. As soon as the
dates are given for the autumn sales, we'll start sending out
